Kaapse Vonkel is renowned as one of the first pre-eminent new world method Champagne sparkling wines, (first produced in 1971). In 1995 Kaapse Vonkel was voted best sparkling wine at the International Wine Challenge in London, and has won numerous awards since. A classic blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. The Pinot Noir provides the body and the roundness of flavour, the Chardonnay adds elegance, freshness and finesse, and the Pinot Meunier contributes aromatic fruitiness.
