At the inaugural Independent English Wine Awards this week, Durmot Sugrue’s – Sugrue Pierre Brut ‘Trouble with Dreams’ 2013 came out on top and won the only gold beating 23 other English sparkling wines!

We have in stock the 2011 vintage of this gorgeous sparkling wine which, with the extra bottle age, is drinking beautifully.

Sugrue Pierre ‘The Trouble With Dreams’ Brut 2011, Sussex

60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir.

Sugrue-Pierre is the personal project of celebrated English sparkling winemaker Dermot Sugrue. Sugrue has been the winemaker behind many of England’s best sparkling wines over the last 10 years. Previously the winemaker at Nyetimber, from 2003 – 2006.

From a small 1ha vineyard at Storrington Priory at the foot of the South Downs, some on chalk and some on sandy greensand, this wine is a great example of a classic Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blend. It has a backbone of acidity along with ripe Pinot fruit and a palate-pleasing level of dosage, helping to hit all the right spots. Ace winemaker Dermot Sugrue has certainly come up trumps with this wine from his own personal label, and produced a wine that while drinking well now, has the power to last for a lot longer.96 Points, Decanter July 2016,
